Schulungszentrum Fohnsdorf
The “Schulungszentrum Fohnsdorf (SZF)” is a vocational training centre that specialises in provision of personalised adult education to unemployed people and employees of small and medium sized enterprises. It offers a flexible modular individualised training with a capacity of 1.500 trainees. This institution offers in the scope of the labour and employment legislation professional qualification measures which have been adapted to the current situation of the labour market and to the demands of customers. The range of professional training covers hotel and catering, metal technology, electrical engineering, welding, automation technology, woodwork, electronics, CNC technology, IT, languages and office administration. The SZF does not only enjoy an excellent reputation on a national but also on an international level, which will be further intensified by a close cooperation with the national employment service and partners from the field of research and industry.

University of Gothenburg has approx 5000 staff and 40000 students. There are eight faculties. The Department of Education and Special Education has approx 150 employees. The department is active in the area of Vocational Education, Adult Education and Teacher/Tutor training as well in teaching in Educational research. The specific expertise and competence is related to the IWOLTE and TIWOLTE projects, where senior lecturers and university lecturers have been working.

The Municipality of Tjörn is a local athority in Tjörn, located near Gothenburg in Sweden. UCT, Utbildningscentrum Tjörn, is an education centre that are responsible for upper secondary, adult and commisioned courses for students from the municipality of Tjörn. UCT is an institution that is characterized by a holistic view on the individual, pedagogical innovation and a well established cooperation with businesses, and institutions for further education. The courses at UCT are within areas that have a strong tradition in the community of Tjörn. Due to the great flexibility within the organisation, UCT can also deal with temporary educational demands. • 60 % of the education is workplace situated. The teaching in the classroom uses the pupils work experience. The core subjects and parts of the programspecific subjects are studied in school.

ITeE-PIB is a state-owned scientific-research institute established in 1986. It is involved in complex scientific, research, development and implementation projects. In 2004 the Institute obtained the ISO 9001: 2000/EN ISO 9001: 2000 TÜV Certificate confirming that the it has established and applies a quality system for continuing vocational education. In the Institute, there are 234 people employed: researchers, specialists representing such scientific disciplines as: pedagogy, informatics, economics, mechanics, electronics and chemistry. The Work Pedagogy of Innovative Economy Centre is a separate unit of ITeE-PIB, which acts in the field of adult education, deals with designing professional qualification standards, National and European Qualification Frameworks, innovative modular curricula for education and training. The Centre builds up European cooperation networks, including EAEA, EVBB, IGIP. Furthermore it cooperates with schools, institutions of higher education, enterprises.
